Hijirou was the best friend from Dante's childhood, now grown into a fully mature and somewhat temperamentaly man. He was adopted into the Maison family and taught the more "British" way of things, thus becoming a Christian Chinese. After graduating college, he moved to Brooklyn and now owns a small private business, ironically next door to Dante's enemies: Hallen Covens.

Hijirou was a runaway refugee from Beijing, boarding an old cargo ship heading for America. In hopes to find the man responsible for his parents' murder, he country-hopped from place to place, finally reaching Brooklyn. He went in pursuit of his enemy, but was instead betrayed by an information semme and then saved by Dante. He lived in an orphanage with him for awhile, loving the company of the crazy-minded boy. But soon, his intelligence at so young an age spread around, and the Maison family wanted to adopt him. Upon leaving Dante, he gave him a small, gold cross he aquired from a sailor, and told him this: " This was given to me by a kind man, someone who made me happy despite I'm different from everyone. I want you to have it, and one day you'll find me, and I'll know it's you because you're as kind as the man that gave this to me, Dante-san." After that, the rest of his life was spent with the Maison family, becoming a Christian and soon colleged at a young age of 16, because of his high intelligence.

Dante comes to Hijirou for information, and sometimes to ask the faithful Chinese to join him in his little group of Socrates, Calligohn, and Killian. Even if he has been turned down many times, Dante always pals around with his Chinese friend and remonises the good times, always finding some way to get into trouble. Hijirou proves to be wise indeed, having vast knowledge in the local badguys around Brooklyn, which is very valuable in chasing down certain most-wanteds.
