 Ken is the fourth partner of Shadow, and did Shadow ever have a more bishful person than him! He's a real lady's man, hitting on almost all of the secretaries in the Covens National Building, and driving Hallen completely buggy with his suaveness. His favorite thing to do is use his charms and good looks to get him nearly anything; calling him "self concious" would be asking for him to slice off your head with his handblade.

 

 Ken was once a detective, now an ex, and he was the most notorious one at that as well. He was known as the "Blue Viper", because of his beauty and the way he caught his victims in a snap. But after he was accused by his own partner that he was involved in a marijuana smuggle, he was immediatly kicked off the force. As he was strolling by the many apartments, he heard a loud door slam, coming from above him. To his surprise, it was Shadow, who was now standing over the railing, ready to plummet to the streets. Ken really didn't like seeing suicidal people, so he told the japanese to think about what he was doing. The reply was that Shadow claimed he had nothing to live for anymore; he said that his life was cursed and that anyone who came near him would die so miserably. Ken laughed, and using the fire escape ladder, climbed up to the balcony below him. After what seemed like hours of convincing, Shadow finally succumbed to the Irish's words and climbed back into the balcony. He thanks Ken rudely, by saying how much he would regret letting him live. Ken merely laughs and says that he's God's child and that he can't die; his "dad" just won't let him. On December 25, Hallen hired Ken to be Shadow's new partner, and immediatly dismissed them both after the Irish attempted to hit on yet another secretary.

 

 Ken seemed to lighten Shadow's spirits, going with him to the race tracks and racing his prized race cars all day. The Irish revealed to Shadow that he was once a pro racer too, but a sudden accident in his family caused him to quit the business. His sister was killed by a car, and he therefore gave it up; she gave him a golden cross before departing and he wears it all the time, thus earning him the nickname "The Saint". But on the night of December 31, the day of Ken's birthday, he recieved a most disturbing photo. It was one of Shadow, tied down to a bed with iron chains and bleeding badly. On the back, it stated that if he did not come down to the race tracks immediatly, Shadow would die. Taking no time at all, Ken raced down to the tracks, and waited for the attackers to show; he had left a note on his office desk to Rosso that he was going down to save Shadow. Shadow just happened to pass by his desk, and spotted the note. Upon scanning through the note, he himself left for the tracks; his mind told him something was not right. But when he got there, that something wrong came true: there was Ken, tied by german wires to a huge metal cross, three bullet holes in his left side. Shadow rushed over, and tried to help him, yelling " You damed Irish, don't you fucking leave me!!". Before dying, Ken uttered one last quote to his crying friend:" I'm not an Irish, and I'm not an angel. I'm a saint, no, 'The Saint', and don't you forget..."

 

 Ken was similar in combat styles to Dante, because he himself had a very unique weapone: the handblade. It's a special blade strapped from his elbow and retracts from his hand, almost as if the blade itself was sprouting from his wrist. He practices kendo, so this shows he had more than enough experience to execute powerful and deadly slice moves. With Ken's death, Shadow seems to think that his curse is really true. If the curse proves to be true for the lat four times, what will become of his new partner?
